LYME, N.H. - The Center for Preservation of Painted Walls announces the appointment of Tim Cook of Lyme, NH, to the CPWP board of directors. From 1980-1995, Cook was employed by Recreate Inc., a construction company primarily working on historic restorations. According to Cook, “We built a few new houses using parts of historic houses that had been dismantled and then were reconstructed.” In 1980, Cook and his wife Lynn purchased the Moses Kent Farm in Lyme. The adrenalin rush hits before you even pull into the parking lot. There’s no telling what you’re going to find that you didn’t even know you wanted. Such is the life of a thrift store junkie. Thrift stores, in my opinion, are outpacing antiques shops for diversity, cost and quality. It’s a generational thing. So many families can only keep so many items from grandma or their parents after a household cleanout. I have seen families back up a semi-truck at a thrift store and donate the entire contents of a home.
