What does design feed on? Form and function, architecture, sculpture, colour. And food too, the hot topic of the moment not only because it is the theme of Expo 2015, but above all because in recent years attention has focused more and more on food design, to which the present issue of Auto&Design is dedicated.
Designing food, and designing for food, excites everybody, car designers included. The first food/automotive knots were tied back in the ‘Eighties when Giorgetto Giugiaro designed an exclusive pasta format, Marille, for Voiello: shaped rather like a double wave, it was in fact inspired by the section of a car door seal.
