AN EXODUS of black senior managers and executives is unfolding at Eskom as 63 senior employees have left the power utility after mass resignations and, to a lesser extent, dismissals and deaths, since 2018. A parliamentary response by Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan indicates that the 63 black managers and executives – African, coloured and Indian people – left after resigning or taking separation packages. THE Somali woman reportedly kidnapped from her father’s shop in Delft last week by armed men is confirmed to be with her husband. Last week, it was reported that a 15 to 17-year-old Somali girl was kidnapped from Delft South by five men, four black and one Somali national, who had also pistol-whipped her father at the shop. Other media outlets indicated that a ransom demand of R600 000 was made. Somali Community Board of South Africa chairperson Abdirizak Ali Osman, however, said the incident was not accurately reported. THE Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) has announced that the party had lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) over the recently suspended diversity workshops held at Fish Hoek High School. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) initiated workshops in response to outrage over an alleged racial incident in May this year in which a teacher used a racial slur during a lesson. The incident highlighted a systemic problem of racial discrimination at the school, decried protesting learners.
