A CAPE Town woman is expected to appear in the Kempton Magistrate’s Court after being nabbed by Border Patrol for fraud relating to card-cloning crimes. The Hawks confirmed the arrest of the woman, who is appearing in transit before her next appearance in Cape Town. Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, said the woman was arrested on Tuesday. “The Border Police have arrested a 34-year-old suspect at OR Tambo International Airport on charges of Electronic Communications Act and Cybercrimes Act while returning on a Qatar flight. Immediately after the arrest, the investigation officer was informed about the suspect’s arrest,” said Hani. MANGO business rescue practitioner (BRP), Sipho Sono, has been unable to indicate whether or not the troubled state-owned low-cost airline will challenge the decision to cancel its licenses. The Air Licensing Services Council cancelled Mango’s licences in November. “Unfortunately I don’t have answers to those questions. We report progress to creditors on a monthly basis,” said Sono. In his latest monthly update, Sono wrote: “The BRP regrets to inform creditors and affected parties that on November 15, 2024, the Air Services Licensing Council issued a letter notifying its decision to cancel Mango’s air services licences”. A WOMAN who survived sexual assault in a church during the Easter Weekend in 2023 has relived the horrific ordeal as the rape and assault trial against the two men accused started in the Khayelitsha Regional Court. Nineteen mothers and their children had spent the night at the Zion Church in Site C during April 2023, when Yamkela Jobo and Okuhle Beya allegedly barged into the room while the victims were sleeping, forcing the congregants to perform oral sex on them. AN 81-year-old woman has died after she was assaulted, allegedly by her son, at a small farm holding in Piketberg along the West Coast on Sunday. This comes after the arrest of Darren Wilken, 35, who is due for his second court appearance in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Wilken was arrested on Friday in Midrand following a raid that uncovered electronic devices containing child sexual abuse material, large sums of cash, and drugs, exposing his connection to a transnational sex crime syndicate. A MANAGER of a liquor store in the Eastern Cape has fled during a raid by the Mnquma Municipality, which found expired items for sale on the shelves. The operation was held at Spar and Tops in Butterworth. The municipality’s spokesperson, Loyiso Mpalantshane, said during the raid, they confiscated alcoholic beverages and hygiene bar soaps, some with expired dates as far back as 2021. “These soaps were being sold under ‘buy one, get one free’ marketing gimmick.
