A taxi guard from Hanover Park accused of the murder of a Gugulethu woman has been sent to prison after abandoning his bail application at the Athlone Magistrate’s Court. MANY South African teachers are feeling severely burned out as a result of their workloads, a national study has found. The Teacher Preferences and Job Satisfaction in South Africa report, released by Stellenbosch University, reveals that 50% of teachers want to leave the profession in the next 10 years. The primary reasons for their stress are an excessive workload as well as administrative burdens, with the latter being the primary source of stress for 70% of respondents. Many feel burdened by excessive paperwork, which they largely perceive as being redundant and irrelevant to their actual teaching needs. The survey also found that teachers in better-resourced schools were more stressed than those in low-fee and no-fee schools. THE recent security breach at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court which led to the murder of an accused inside the courthouse came amid a broken metal detector at the entrance. The sudden hike of import tariffs by US President Donald Trump and his administration to countries across the world is set to reduce the volume of goods traded and affect citizen welfare across the globe. THE George Municipality said while the findings of the National Home Builders Registration Council’s (NHBRC) report into the fatal building collapse that killed 34 people last year found their office to be at fault for approving the apartment block’s plan after it was already in construction, no significant findings were made against it during an audit, adding the plans were approved in line with regulations. Through an audit conducted, the municipality revealed key information into the approval and acceptance of the plan, saying they did not have evidence that the construction went ahead despite the approval being processed. The car, with a recorded mileage of 115 567 kilometres, suffered a devastating engine failure on January 19, 2020, during a drive by Pretorius’s father from Cape Town to Heidelberg, Gauteng.
