DRIVE Cobbold Gorge is located in northwest Queensland, 85km south of Georgetown and signposted off the Gulf Developmental Road (a six-hour drive west of Cairns or Townsville). The route is mostly sealed and even the short, graded sections are suitable for conventional vehicles and rigs.
VISIT Cobbold Gorge is only open during the north’s cool, dry season from 1 April (or Easter) to 31 October each year.
STAY The resort provides a range of camping options: powered campsites ($42/ couple, $8/child, $56/family), private ensuite sites ($59/couple, $10/child, $69/family) and unpowered bush sites that suit camper trailers and tents ($16/adult, $8/child, $46/ family).
