SUPERGRASS RELEASED A former leader of an Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) unit in north Belfast, who’d admitted five murders, had his sentence slashed after helping police. Gary Haggarty had confessed to killing Sean McParland, father-of-six Eamon Fox, 44, and Gary Convie, 24, and fatally shooting Sean McDermott, 37, all in 1994, and beating John Harbinson to death in 1997. He also admitted five attempted murders – some against police – 23 counts of conspiracy to murder and directing terrorism.
