Wrestling with a pair of jeans, I slumped onto my bed in a huff.
It was 1985 and, aged 13, I was starting to go through puberty.
And for me, this meant my weight was soaring especially on my legs.

See, growing up I’d always been bigger than all my friends and family.
While me and my sister, then 16, ate all the same meals, she was as thin as a twig!
‘It’s not fair,’ I groaned to my mum.
‘You’ll just have to eat a bit less, love,’ she said, giving me a hug.
Throughout my teens, I grew obsessed with dieting, trying every fad going.
