As I crept out of bed, the sun hadn’t even come up. ‘I’m going for a run,’ I whispered to my wife Shirley, then 40, slipping on my trainers.
It was December 2019, and pounding the pavement I felt calm, happy.
As a mum to Christie, then 20, Samantha, 18, and Gracie, 6, and with a full-time job as an auditor, running was ‘me time’.
