FORD DROPS OUT OF TOP TEN Ford has lost its crown as Britain’s best-selling car maker for the first time in 50 years, new figures show. The Vauxhall Corsa was confirmed as 2021’s most popular new car by data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), meaning the Griffin-badged supermini becomes the first non-Blue Oval to take the top spot since the Austin/Morris 1100/1300 in 1971. Every year since, the Cortina, Escort, Focus and Fiesta have enjoyed best-seller status, with the latter spending 12 consecutive years at the top. OUR CARS classic ford’s project cars Simon’s Mk1 Cortina The Mk1’s much-needed front suspension upgrade didn’t quite go as planned — but it turned out to be for the better… The Mk1’s transformation into a fast, ultra-usable but still kind of in-period classic Ford continues steadily thanks to the efforts of Dave Fisher at D&D Developments.
