T he oldest of golf’s four Majors, The Open Championship, is played over some of the finest links courses in the United Kingdom. Five of the Open courses can be found north of Hadrian’s Wall, in Scotland, with the remaining four located in England. It is expected that Northern Ireland’s Royal Portrush, which hosted the Open once before, in 1951, will be announced as the host venue of the 2019 Open – thereby making a welcome return to the rota.
This year, however, The Open makes its way back to the home of golf, the Old Course at St Andrews, a venue that has hosted more Open Championships (28) than any other.
