Go for a ride in Luxembourg, and if you need a repair fixing, the chances are you may recognise the mechanic. “Sometimes I’ll take the broom and clean, and sometimes I’ll be the mechanic,” Andy Schleck says. “Someone may have come from afar, and then there’s me, a Tour winner, changing their tube with dirty fingers, or putting cassettes on.”
Schleck runs two eponymous bike shops in Luxembourg, the first of which opened in 2016 and the latter earlier this summer. He has 16 employees, ambitions of expanding, and the very defined goal of “making the best bike shop in the whole world [because when he retired] I still hadn’t found a good bike shop in my whole life, so I said, ‘I’ll do it.’”
