At college, one my team-mates was a veterinary science postgrad student, as well as a very good bike rider.
He won several races, but none made more impression than a crit race a few miles from Cambridge. That’s because when he was asked what race he wanted to enter, the E,1,2,3 race or the vets’ race, he was delighted to discover that there was a category for his chosen profession, and entered the vets’ event.
