“WITH SLED PULLING, IT ALL STARTS WITH HORSEPOWER.” Some people plan and build their trucks over a period of years; other people just come out of the gate storming. John Esteves is of the latter group, and his truck, Smokin’ Max, has been a visible part of Northern California sled pulling for at least a decade. Stock to not is our 1994 Ram 2500 build that we have taken from “stock” form as a marketplace find, to “not”—a soon to be 700hp street truck. But to have a vehicle you built yourself on display at the biggest after-market convention? Now that’s an accomplishment many of us can only dream of, and only a select few can say they did. This month we’re working with our friends over at Belltech Suspension to take our stock-form Ram 2500 and add a 4-inch rear shackle and hangar kit along with Belltech’s Street Performance shocks so we can get that low, aggressive stance we’re going for.
