According to Leigh, successful adaptation is less about obedience drills and more about mutual understanding, with a generous helping of empathy.
“Your dog isn’t just a furry accessory to your lifestyle. He is a sentient creature with behavioural needs, emotional responses and his own quirky coping mechanisms. It’s not only about how he adjusts to you, it’s equally about how you adjust to him,” she says.
