In three years, R78,9 million has been disbursed to support black grower citrus operations across South Africa, creating 78 permanent and 625 seasonal jobs in total, and enabling 208ha of new trees to be planted.
This is thanks to the Citrus Growers’ Association’s (CGA) R307 million Economic Transformation of Black Citrus Growers (ETBCG) Programme, launched in 2019 in partnership with the Jobs Fund, Land Bank, Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, AgriSETA, the LIMA Rural Development Foundation and FNB. Since then, just over R161,3 million of this funding has been approved.
