FEBRUARY 1986
Escort Mk4 range launched, including XR3i with fuel-injected 104bhp 1.6-litre CVH powerplant plus uprated suspension, 6x14in steel wheels with plastic trims, front spoiler and sports front seats with Daytona cloth upholstery. Optional dogleg 6x14in alloy wheels, driving lamps, central locking, electric windows, ABS, fuel computer and sunroof. Colours available: Diamond White, Rosso Red, Black or Nimbus Grey.
SEPTEMBER 1987
XR3i continues with driving lamps and central locking as standard. Radiant Red replaces Rosso, and Mercury Grey replaces Nimbus.
MARCH 1988
Tilting/sliding glass sunroof and electric/heated door mirrors are now standard.
SEPTEMBER 1988
Revised decals, electric front windows, Zolda upholstery and grey headlining become standard.
