Not only do nasturtiums produce months of bold blooms, but they’re easy to grow, not fussy about soil, and have edible flowers, leaves and seeds. ‘Alaska’ nasturtiums (sometimes sold as ‘Alaska Mix’) form brilliant flowers in fiery shades of orange, gold, red and salmon, but they offer a second layer of interest with their rounded, variegated foliage. The variegation pattern differs from leaf to leaf, with some delicately streaked and others nearly covered in splotches of creamy white.
‘Alaska’ has a compact mounding form that’s easy to fit in any size space, including containers. Plants grow just over a foot tall and wide with bicolored leaves providing the perfect foil for the velvety flowers.
