It took me 27 hours to cross into Egypt from Sudan. First, the authorities did not want to accept the Carnet de Passages en Douane (document for international customs and temporary export and import). I slept in my rooftop tent and they helped me the next day.
But it took two weeks to leave Egypt at Alexandria. I only found out on the final day what the problem was. This border post’s paperwork and our vehicle’s Egyptian license plates didn’t match. But we didn’t realise it because everything was in Arabic.
