There’s always a sense of excitement in Satara. This is where the predators like to hang out, lured by plains game like impala, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest and warthog, which graze right outside the gate. Raptors ride the thermals and vultures sit in the treetops, waiting for the next kill.
Satara is in an eco zone called “savannah grassland on basalt”. The grazing is sweet, which attracts plains game, and in turn, predators. To the east of the rest camp, savannah fades into an eco zone called “Olifants rugged veld”, which is home to browsers alongside the grazers.
