It is often considered part and parcel of tournament golf overseas that the host venue’s facilities and infrastructure, rather than the golf course itself, are the most crucial elements to keep all stakeholders happy.
Fortunately in Australia, the opposite has often been true, with our best golf course by a long stretch, Royal Melbourne, often welcoming players for a variety of events. And in Sydney, the “big” clubs, The Australian, The Lakes, Royal Sydney and NSW, have been regular Australian Open sites.
