The beauty industry can be bamboozling at the best of times. It continuously churns out new lotions and potions with performance claims that can be mostly attributed to tests done in a Petri dish. Strawberries and Cream Ice Creams I’ll always remember making homemade ice creams and ice blocks growing up – strawberries and cream was always a favourite flavour of mine. Perfect for a hot summer’s day! Makes 4 ice creams / 10 minutes (and overnight) GF NF 2 frozen bananas400 grams fresh or frozen strawberries2 tablespoons maple syrup½ cup coconut milk¼ cup melted coconut oil 80 grams white chocolate and freeze-dried raspberry powder to decorate, optional iceblock sticks and moulds In a food processor or high-powered blender, blend bananas, strawberries, maple syrup, coconut milk and coconut oil together until smooth. Two years ago, we bought a two-acre block near Lake Taupo and Ruapehu to build a sustainably focused holiday pad with friends. Detoxification is a natural process that is happening in the body all the time: it is the body’s way of neutralising and eliminating harmful substances and waste materials. The liver, kidneys and bowel are the main organs involved in detoxification, and they each play a different role. The liver is the body’s primary processor of everything absorbed from our digestive system. We’re all familiar with the concept of the feature wall – adding texture or bold colour to demarcate an internal space. You can use similar techniques to great effect outside. Painting your fence or wall in a deep, dark tone helps the boundary to retreat and make the area leading to the fence appear larger.
