ITHACA DOUBLE CONVERSION Q: This is an Ithaca New Model side-by-side shotgun. The interesting part is that it has a .38-56 Winchester sleeve, with an extractor that can be used in either barrel. Open sights appear to be factory, as does the sleeve. The sleeve has no markings, though, so I’ve been unable to find anything like it. Any help would be appreciated. M. ACCORDING TO THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU, there are some 16.2 million veterans living in America. More than 3 million veterans served after September 11, 2001, many of whom deployed to combat zones in Afghanistan and Iraq. A great number of these men and women returned with wounds, both seen and unseen, and too many have taken their own lives. Brown’s Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs estimated that 30,177 active-duty personnel and veterans committed suicide between 2001 and 2021. Suicide rates are an epidemic among veterans. According to the Veteran’s Administration (VA), there were 6,146 veteran suicides in 2020 alone. Suicide was the second leading cause of death among veterans under age 45. This is a real problem, one that we as a society should be working to fix.…
