Remembering a designer who always dared After revolutionizing knitwear with her “poor boy” sweaters in the early 1960s, Sonia Rykiel went on to build a global fashion empire that would forever redefine Parisian chic. In 2010, she participated in a collaboration with Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar for Bazaar’s March issue, in which the filmmaker cast designers—Rykiel, Karl Lagerfeld, and Angela Missoni among them—in scenes from some of his most famous films.
