SIR SALMAN RUSHDIE Book publication causes delay to trial start The trial of the man charged with attacking Sir Salman Rushdie in the US in 2022 has been delayed ahead of the release of the writer’s book about the incident. Lawyers representing Hadi Matar, 26, successfully called for the trial, which was to start this week, to be postponed until they had reviewed Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder for trial preparation. The book is due to be released on 16 April. Sir Salman, 76, was attacked as he was about to give a talk at the Chautauqua Institution in New York state.
