The DEA has placed Washington State in the crosshairs of its marijuana-eradication program, despite cannabis being legal there since 2012. In fiscal year 2016, Washington ranked fourth in the nation in eradication funding, as the Feds spent a ridiculous $760,000 destroying pot plants in the state. The Seattle Times obtained financial documents from the DEA revealing the disturbing numbers. Incredibly, the agency spent $26.49 on each plant destroyed in the Evergreen State last year—more than six times the national average. Proponents claim the program is necessary to combat illegal outdoor grows operated by Mexican drug cartels. While Washington’s eradication funding has decreased by 28 percent since 2013, it remains among the highest in the nation, particularly when compared to other states that have legalized cannabis. Police in a small New Jersey town are catching some heat after sharing a photo of a big bag of confiscated weed on Face-book. The Absecon Police Department posted a pic of the pot with the message, “If you were supposed to buy some Candy Kush this weekend, we have it here at the #Absecon PD. Just stop on down and ask.” While some readers seemed content to give the cops credit for the playful post, many viewed the message as inappropriate as it made light of life altering marijuana-related arrests. Getting realistic about recruiting, the US Air Force is relaxing its rules for previous marijuana use by potential cadets. According to a statement by Gen. David Goldfein, the USAF chief of staff, “the Air Force is evolving so we are able to access more worldwide deployable Airmen to conduct the business of our nation.” In other words, it’s getting very difficult to find recruits who haven’t smoked pot, and the Air Force can no longer afford to completely ignore applicants for having previously used a substance that most Americans think should be legal. Acetaminophen The Food and Drug Administration has linked at least 980 deaths in 2013 to acetaminophen, a pain-relieving drug found in products like Tylenol. It also causes liver damage. From 2006 to 2013, acetaminophen killed more people than all other over-the-counter drugs combined. Since 2006, those dying accidentally from taking too much acetaminophen surpassed the number of those committing suicide via intentional overdose. Ibuprofen Ibuprofen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) pose such a risk of heart attack and stroke that even those without coronary issues are at peril. The FDA had to strengthen its warnings for NSAIDs in July 2015, since even the very short-term use of ibuprofen products like Advil and Motrin can be fatal. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is spearheading an effort to help marijuana-related businesses emerge from the financial-services Stone Age of cash-only transactions. Cannabusinesses are still largely prohibited from using banks, which hampers their competitiveness and long-term success, while limiting any business to cash-only transactions invites crime. Warren, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, and nine other senators sent a letter to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network asking for guidance on allowing banks to work with cannabusinesses. Banking for the cannabis industry has improved slightly in recent years under an increasingly relaxed Obama administration. The number of banks and credit unions accepting marijuana money rose from 51 in 2014 to 301 in 2016. A Florida man who was the victim of a home invasion ended up going to jail after cops arrived on the scene and sniffed out his illegal grow op. Michael Mora, 37, shot and killed 25-year-old Lhosdanny Brena Colarte, one of four suspects who broke into Mora’s residence in January 2017. However, Mora wasn’t arrested or charged for the shooting, but rather for operating a marijuana grow house stacked with over 200 pounds of pot and 123 living plants, which officers discovered while investigating. Police later confirmed that Mora was targeted for the robbery because of his illegal grow. Mora previously served time for robbery with a deadly weapon and could face additional charges for possessing the firearm he used to defend himself against the intruders.…

Massachusetts voters legalized recreational weed last November, but statewide sales won’t launch until July 2018, thanks to a controversial bill signed by Governor Charlie Baker.
