Emily Wills wears many hats. She’s a fashion designer, illustrator, curator, arts educator and printed textile designer. She’s also the founder and director of SURFACE 1°22, a creative enterprise that has a proverbial finger in many pies. From their studio in Melbourne’s south-east, the team creates pattern designs for leading fashion and homeware brands. SURFACE 1°22 also designs and sells its own products — which can be anything from cards to upholstered retro ’70s chairs. Lucy Fenton says she did not choose a career path; rather, her career path found her.
