RIMOWA has teamed up again with multifaceted artist Daniel Arsham to give its icon suitcases an artistic spin – this time, on its classic Pilot Case. First launched in 1994, the grooved aluminium case takes it name Pilot from a size that can fit neatly behind a pilot’s seat. Having been showcased at Milan Design Week 2022, the Hermès Home Collection 2022 is all about textiles, colours and craftsmanship at their most exquisite. Designed to bring a touch of playfulness with vibrant colours and singular craftsmanship, textiles form the underlying theme running through the collection, with five creations made from cashmere, one of the house’s favourite materials. From tableware and handwoven blankets to lamps and furniture, the decorative home objects, constructed in the shape of water towers, radiate light with their wooden core and translucent coloured paper covering. The home of Russian interior designer Ariana Ahmad breaks all the rules. Located in Moscow’s upscale Presnya district, this apartment is Ahmad’s own home, which she shares with her husband and their two young children. Because she was her own client, she could let her creativity run wild. The result – a unique, gallery-like home that bucks all conventions. The interiors of Russian residences tend to lean towards the classical or historic, but the design of this home is decidedly modern, cosmopolitan, and even a little futuristic. While the interior finishings echo the industrial aesthetics of a Manhattan penthouse loft, elegant materials such as Rimadesio glass panels and Salvatori marble, give the project a distinctly continental look. Once you are inside the Pok Fu Lam industrial building flat, it’s not immediately clear what you’re in. A makeshift living space? An industrial hangout spot? An open-plan office? The place came onto the market some years ago, and it was rented by a digital creative living in Hong Kong, who simply wanted an office-cum-residence. “We designed a multi-purpose creative space that serves as both a workspace and a place to reside, especially during the mandatory periods of working from home,” said Britta Butler, design director/founder of B Squared Design. This commodious, single-level, 404,292 square foot apartment in São Paulo, presented architects Domingos Pascali and Sarkis Semerdjian, of Brazilian firm Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos, with plenty of opportunities to create stunning spaces with sensual silhouettes and intriguing textures. The apartment belongs to a couple with a young son and daughter.
