Try using a statement wallpaper as a starting point, choosing the dominant colour in its design for your furniture, paint and curtains. Then select a secondary shade from the wallpaper and work this into your scheme with smaller patterned pieces such as cushions, throws, rugs and artwork. Using polish on furniture creates a smoother surface that makes it difficult for dust to gather, but this can lead to dust settling elsewhere.
