Decide where you want to apply your gold leaf and make sure the whole area is completely dry, to avoid the gold leaf getting damp. Apply gilding size (glue) to the area in small sections with a flat brush and wait for this to dry until tacky to the touch, which should be around 20 minutes. Then, lay your gold leaf sheet flat over the area, rub over it and gently peel off the backing sheet. Try to slightly overlap the gold leaf sheets so that there are no visible gaps.
