Petersen Automotive Museum Hosts One-Night-Only Musclecar Gala
Hundreds gathered at the Petersen Automotive Museum to raise their glasses in honor of the brave pilots and magnificent machines that were the SCCA Trans-Am series. Past stars, including Dan Gurney, George Follmer, Parnelli Jones, Jim Hall, Milt Minter, and Dick Guldstrand, mingled with modern-era race heros, such as Tommy Kendall, in a celebration of the greatness that was the Trans-Am series’ prime years: 1966 to 1972.
More than a dozen steel warriors were in attendance at the Petersen Museum—two Roger Penske Camaros; Sam Posey’s lime-green Challenger; Dan Gurney’s one-year-only Cougar; the ex-Smokey Yunick black-and-gold Camaro now owned by Edelbrock; the BFGoodrich “Tire-Bird;” both Follmer’s and Jones’ Boss Mustangs; a red, white, and blue Javelin; and plenty more with miles of…
