I have known Isher for a lifetime (okay, 46 years), and she and Montek are close personal friends of both my wife Ravinder Kaur (known as Ravi to friends) and me. Twenty years ago, Ensemble Studios launched Age of Empires II, a strategy game that allowed armchair emperors to play at war. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visibly longer beard has become a subject of great curiosity and interest, more so in West Bengal where parallels are being drawn with poet Rabindranath Tagore’s trademark flowing beard. We have gone for a public-private partnership as the railways will need to enhance capacity by 2024. But this isn’t the privatisation of railways. My love for textile began early on with my childhood rummages in my Nani’s trunks for costumes, deep in the Bhandaar (store) of the Sailana Palace Zenana (ladies wing).
