INDIAN INTRODUCES THE CHIEF ‘DARK HORSE’

Indian Motorcycle has added a new variant to the Chief line-up — the Dark Horse – which will be available in Indian Motorcycle dealerships from June. Using the Chief Classic as a starting point, the Chief Dark Horse is a feast of matt black – Thunder Black Smoke in Indian parlance - with only a flash of chrome to break up the darkness. Indian calls the result “one of the most confident silhouettes on the market” with an “aggressive pose”. Mechanical spec is as per the Chief Classic, meaning a 111ci ThunderStroke v-twin, 6-speed constant mesh transmission and Chief Classic suspension (46mm tele fork front, monoshock rear, 119mm travel front, 94mm travel rear). REED AND STEWART CONFIRMED FOR AUS-X OPEN EVENT

AUS-X Open, the new-look ‘Australian Open of Supercross’ event that’s set to hit Sydney this November 28, has announced the addition of two massive drawcards in the form of Chad Reed and James ‘Bubba’ Stewart. EBR CLOSES DOWN

Erik Buell’s EBR (Erik Buell Racing) motorcycle company has gone into receivership, filing for Chapter 128 bankruptcy protection, under Wisconsin state law, on April 13. Following a meeting with the 126 staff that build the EBR 1190SX and 1190RX models at EBR’s factory in Wisconsin (the same location that Buell operated out of for many years), Buell shuttered the doors on the same day as the Chapter 128 filing. In a statement, Buell said: “We thought we had secured funding, but in the end, we were not able to get the funding in place. Therefore, we need to do the best we can under the circumstances for all parties in interest.” The loss of funding presumably refers to Hero, the huge Indian motorcycle brand who purchased a 49.2 percent stake…

‘PEPPER’ H-D ROAD GLIDE SHAKES THE SALT AT 2015 DLRA SPEED WEEK

SOURCE Bike Exif The name ‘Zundapp’ is probably more familiar to World War II aficionados than it is to motorcycle buffs. Along with BMW, Zundapp supplied the bulk of the German Army’s solo and outfit motorcycling requirements in WWII. While BMW emerged from the conflict somewhat intact and would go on to thrive, Zundapp didn’t survive the post-War period so well, producing scooters and a few fullsize models into the 1950s, but ceasing motorcycle production altogether in 1984. Yamaha’s v-twin Bolt has already set a benchmark for cruiser style, but the release of a new ‘C-Spec’ variant ups the style ante even further. Regarded as one of the finest of its type in the world, the motorcycle collection of E.J. Cole was the result of 50 years of accumulation by the Texan enthusiast. Numbering more than 200 machines, two things defined the 89-year-old’s collection: it consisted almost exclusively of American-made motorcycles; and included some of the rarest and most desirable makes and models, especially from the vintage and veteran era. “I didn’t really have a preference [among makes],” Cole said of the composition of his collection. “As long as it was a motorcycle and American-made, and I didn’t have one, I went after it.
