At their Classic & Collectable Car & Motorcycle Auction this past March, Burns & Co. offered a wide range of cars and motorcycles, including some rare, unusual and highly desirable models. Of the selection of two-wheel machines up for grabs, highlights included a 1973 Kawasaki H1, 1996 Ducati 916, 2004 Ducati 999S and a 1978 BMW R100S. The auction also featured a rare, Australian-made Invincible JAP from the 1920s that was unrestored, but had been recently returned to running condition. Following its unveiling in production form last July and a US market release in September, CFMOTO have confirmed their 675SR-R sportsbike is coming to Australia. A big brother to the 450SR-S that’s already available locally, the 675SR-R will land here in May, priced from $11,790 ride away. For their new inductees into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame for 2025, Motorsport Australia has recognised the achievements of Chad Reed in supercross and motocross, Chris Matheson in motorcycle drag racing and our winning team of female riders at the International Six Day Enduro – Tayla Jones, Jemma Wilson and Jessica Gardiner. At a ceremony held during the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne, Jones, Wilson, Gardiner and Matheson received their awards alongside inductees from four-wheel motorsport (Reed sent a pre-recorded video message). In line with the 850cc bikes and new technical regulations that will be introduced to MotoGP in 2027, the category will also switch from Michelin to Pirelli tyres. This follows the Italian brand replacing Dunlop as the sole tyre supplier in Moto3 and Moto2 in 2024. The deal with MotoGP will run for five years (until the end of 2031) and include the MotoE World Championship switching to Pirelli tyres from 2027, too. Michelin has been the official tyre supplier for the premier class since 2016, replacing Bridgestone, who was the exclusive supplier for seven years prior to that.
