Following BSA’s resurrection in 2016 that led to the release of an all-new Gold Star 650 in 2022, the reborn marque that’s majority owned by Mahindra has brought back another historic model name in the Bantam. Making its global debut in the UK in late July, the all-new ‘Bantam 350’ is now being rolled out to a list of selected markets in Europe, the Americas and Asia. New Zealand is on that list, but not Australia, as BSA has yet to secure a local distributor. The original Bantam was produced from 1948 to 1971 and offered in three key small-capacity engine sizes, as well as many model variants. Following the announcement back in May that bagger racing will be added to the undercard of selected MotoGP rounds in 2026, further details on the one-make racing series were announced during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend in August. Created by Harley-Davidson in conjunction with MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, the first global bagger championship - to be known as the ‘Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup’ - will be held over six rounds. The inaugural Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup will kick off at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas in March, followed by rounds at Mugello in May, Assen in June, then Silverstone and Aragon in August before the series wraps up at Spielberg in September, where the ‘Championship Round’ will be held. Another reason has been added to attend this year’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix on 17-19 October, with Casey Stoner to make an on-track return to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit where he achieved six consecutive premier class victories from 2007 to 2012. Since he retired from racing 13 years ago, Stoner has been a special guest and commentator for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix on several occasions, but this year will mark the first time he has ridden a race bike at Phillip Island since 2012. After 17 years, more than 450 race starts, 119 wins and six championships in the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship, Jonathan Rea will retire at the end of 2025. The 38-year-old from Ballymena in Northern Ireland announced in August that this year’s WorldSBK season would be his last. In a video posted to social media, Rea said he’d been thinking about retirement for a long time before making the decision. “This sport has been everything to me. Change is coming at Harley-Davidson, with a new President and CEO announced in August. Jochen Zeitz, the current Chairman, President and CEO, will be succeeded by Artie Starrs from 1 October, 2025, although he will remain with Harley-Davidson in an advisory role through to February, 2026. Starrs comes to Harley-Davidson from Topgolf International, Inc., a subsidiary of Topgolf Callaway Brands. As CEO of Topgolf (a chain of venues combining a bar, restaurant and virtual golf driving range) for the past four and a half years, Starrs increased annual revenue by more than 50 per cent - from US$1.1 billion in 2021 to $1.8 billion - and expanded the sports entertainment brand into five additional countries across Europe and Asia. Almost two months after Toprak Razgatlioglu revealed he’d be leaving BMW’s World Superbike (WorldSBK) team to race for Yamaha in MotoGP, his replacement for 2026 was finally announced in early August – Danilo Petrucci. The 34-year-old Italian, who joined WorldSBK in 2023 after a decade in MotoGP, will get his long-awaited dream of a factory bike with ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK after three years on a satellite Ducati with the Barni Spark Racing Team. Can a sidecar outfit be a cruiser? Kaichiroh Kurosu, the man behind Cherry’s Company, thinks so. When Royal Enfield presented Kurosu-san with a new Super Meteor 650 in late 2023, he completely transformed the bike in typical Cherry’s Company style, but also took his love for cruisers into new territory by adding a third wheel. The outfit featured, what Cherry’s Company call ‘Challenger’, is the fifth creation from the Tokyo metal masters to feature with JUST BIKES, but far from their fifth creation overall. Kurosu-san, a former Harley-Davidson service technician, founded Cherry’s Company back in 2000, with dozens of one-off builds completed since. Ahead of its much anticipated Australian arrival later this year, Suzuki has released pricing for the new DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM. The next evolution of the enduring DR-Z400 will start at $14,490 ride away for the DR-Z4S, with its DR-Z4SM supermotard sibling priced at $14,990 ride away. High demand for the new model, that included more than 1,300 expressions of interest from Australian customers, led to a special pre-order process that was completed in August. These pre-orders will be given priority when the first batch of DR-Z models arrive in Australia this December. And of those, the earliest pre-order customers will receive their bikes first. With the distribution of former Peter Stevens Motorcycles franchises to new owners now complete, the Harley-Davidson side of that empire recently held their official openings under new ownership. The former Harley Heaven network is now split across two owners – Motorcycle Holdings and Joe Rascal Group. As previously reported, Peter Stevens Motorcycles went into administration in May, after which Motorcycle Holdings and Joe Rascal Group acquired most of the 15 dealerships that comprised the Peter Stevens Motorcycles retail network in late June. Motorcycle Holdings acquired Harley Heaven outlets in Sydney (Tempe), Penrith, Adelaide and Perth, in addition to other non-Harley dealerships in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. While the announcement back in June that Toprak Razgatlioglu would join MotoGP with Pramac Racing put Jack Miller’s seat in doubt, it was confirmed In September that the Aussie veteran will be retained by the Italian team for 2026, with Miguel Oliveira to depart.
