BUILDING KNOWHERE After the Blip, the Guardians rebuilt Knowhere (a former Celestial skull turned vessel) to be Guardians HQ – and a mobile city. Building the Knowhere set took a lot of work. By the end, it was like a small town, with 20 separate buildings covering over 3716 square metres at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA! The set was built on Trilith’s largest stage and took over six months. The buildings were created from mouldable foam, which hardened with a special coating. I’m a foodie and totally dig that Firetown has a lot of cooking-related architecture – there are buildings and carts that are shaped like pots, ovens and BBQs. The area was originally part of the Earth district, so Firetown feels chaotic. It has the family-owned shop that locals love – Fireplace, where Ember works with her dad! I would definitely love to live somewhere in the Earth district, with all the terraces and vegetation. Some of the buildings are even shaped like giant pine trees! Citizens in the Earth area seem like a really fun bunch, and I would like to have a cactus on my head – or beautiful leaves sprouting instead of hair. Bring it on! BRENTON E MCKENNA Brenton is a Yawuru man from Broome, WA, and is also known by his middle name, ‘ESZRA’. As a kid, his love for comics started when he picked up Ghost Rider. Brenton eventually studied visual arts at Goulburn Ovens TAFE in Wangarratta, Victoria. In 2011, he became the first published Indigenous graphic novel author in Australia when he released Ubby’s Underdogs: The Legend of Phoenix Dragon!
