A KFC fast food chain in America, has expanded into non-edible products with the creation of “Extra Crispy” flavoured sunscreen which smells just like fried chicken. After announcing the launch of the KFC Colonel Sanders’ Extra Crispy SPF 30 sunscreen on social media site, Twitter, the company confirmed only 3,000 units would be made available for free via a special website until sold out - which it did. The dedicated website featured an advertising video and warned, “Even though this product smells delicious, it is not delicious. The only skin that should be extra crispy this summer is on your fried chicken.” KFC chief marketing officer, Kevin Hochman, admitted, “Suntan lotion always smells like lotion... So we thought, why not make it smell like fried chicken?” The chicken-flavoured sunscreen followed…

A new installation created by artist, Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, was unveiled in northern Italy earlier this year giving tourists the chance to walk on water. Javacheff designed a three kilometre long runway consisting of 200,000 floating cubes connecting the small island of Monte Isola on Lake Iseo to the village of Sulzano. Titled “The Floating Piers”, the project cost $22 million to build with organisers estimating 500,000 visitors across 16 days. Initially, the installation was supposed to be open both day and night, however, due to heavy foot traffic it was forced to close during night-time to prevent wear and tear. Some tourists removed their shoes to experience the “The Floating Piers”, others sunbathed on the pontoons whilst braver visitors swam in Iseo’s dark green water. One organiser said, “It’s…

In the middle of the Antarctic wilderness is the world’s most remote hotel and also one of the most expensive. Guests at the White Desert camp are subjected to subzero temperatures and pay around $95,000 for an 11-night stay. The White Desert camp has welcomed visitors, such as, Prince Harry and the Saudi Royal family and recently underwent a five-star revamp to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The luxury accommodation includes six heated, fibreglass domes known as “sleeping pods” standing on a rugged strip of land in the interior of Antarctica. Co-founder, Robyn Woodhead, revealed the unique accommodation requires, “some of the most complex and remote logistics in the world... Many of the simple elements, such as getting water for the construction work, involved drilling through a two-metre-thick ice lake.” The…

An chef in Western Australia was thrilled earlier this year after cracking open 29 double-yolked eggs from the same carton. Reneae MacLachlan was cooking breakfast for customers at the Aussie Pastries Bakery in Geraldton when she opened a fresh box of eggs and the first double-yolk egg appeared. From there, 28 more followed with bakery manager, Kingsley Schilling, explaining that Renae, “had everyone in fits of laughter with her doubleyolkers coming through... they were all out of the same box.” Schilling also admitted that in his 15 years of working at the bakery, he had never come across any double-yolk eggs. Jessamy Miller, an expert on keeping poultry, confessed that double-yolk eggs were safe to eat and said, “It is completely natural and it is bound to happen sometimes.” Mr…

Highest bar jump cleared by a Llama The highest bar jump cleared by a llama is 1.13m, and was achieved by Caspa, owned by Sue Williams (UK) at Dogfest, in Arley Hall, Cheshire, UK, on 14 June 2015. Caspa has jumped his way to victory earning him a place in the Guinness World Records 2017 book. Caspa jumped a height of 1.13m beating the minimum requirement of 1m becoming the first Llama to be awarded this record title. 9 year old Caspa has been with Sue since he was roughly 2 years old and she describes him as a total diva! Residents of an American town in Utah, were disturbed recently when they spotted an peculiar green foam bubbling out from one of the town’s sewer drains. One local, Tara Dahl, told reporters she was able to spot the strange looking substance from a considerable distance and said it was, “Kind of bubbling a little bit, and then you got closer and you could see it start rising...I was amused by it, so I just kept getting closer to kind of examine, to see what it was.” According to authorities, the foam was believed to have been caused by the introduction of chemicals to the nearby Welby Jacob Canal, originally intended to move away moss. Eventually, the freaky foam was disposed of by firefighters who wore safety masks and gloves whilst…

An incredibly rare skeleton of a Dodo, an extinct flightless bird, is anticipated to sell for a six-figure sum when sold at auction in West Sussex. The composite of the bird is 95 per cent complete and only missing a section of the skull and one set of claws. Rupert van der Werff, director at Summers Place Auctions, said, “We didn’t really quite believe it. We thought all the remains that are out there were known.” The collector of the Dodo remains gathered the pieces over decades and put the skeleton together in the early 2000s. The Dodo only lived for 70 years in Mauritius and was first sighted by Dutch sailors in 1598. The flightless bird was believed to measure one metre tall and weighed between ten and twenty…

A team of German researchers have discovered that great frigatebirds have short naps whilst flying. After tracking the birds with brain activity monitors and movement trackers it was confirmed the birds have micro-sleep episodes lasting about 12 seconds where they usually access only half of their brain, but, sometimes both. The red-stomached birds can apparently fly nonstop for up to two months without landing to sleep. Following the studies on 14 birds, it was also discovered that on an average, the particular birds sleep for 41 minutes per day, even though they are mid-flight. Niels Rattenborg, from the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Germany, hopes to, “determine how they’re able to manage on such little sleep, that might inform our understanding of the consequences of sleep loss in humans…

Everybody is still waiting patiently – well, not that patiently actually – for Nintendo to tell us about its next console, the NX. It’s supposed to come out in just five months and we don’t even know its real name yet. However, there have been some more leaks that may or may not be true, but the biggest and the one that many people think is correct, is that the NX will be console and a handheld. So when you are playing at your couch it will dock into a Gamepad like controller case for console play. But then you can detach the main screen section and take it with you as a handheld. A group of Aquarists in Townsville, Australia, have been baffled by the discovery of a strange double-headed prawn.The creepy-looking crustacean was found by stunned staff in a frozen food package with Aquarist, Laura Colton from Reef HQ Aquarium, revealed, “I was counting out a few prawns and fish and I grabbed a handful prawns, and at first I thought there were two stuck together and then realised it was a prawn with two heads.” Following the discovery, Reef HQ posted a photo of the mutated prawn on its Facebook account which attracted interest from hundreds of people including Professor at James Cook University and director of Australian Research Council hub for advanced prawn breeding, Dean Jerry. Inspired by the popular Pokémon Go craze, a Down N’ Out burger restaurant recently popped up for a limited time in Sydney. Each afternoon the store served a selected number of tasty burgers resembling the Pokémon characters, Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Charmander. With only one burger available per person, customers had to be quick to claim their specialty meal. According to Ben Kagan, the creative director for Hashtag Burgers, the company behind Down N’ Out, the three burgers were designed to match the look and personality of the Pokémon characters. Kagan said, “Charmander is a bit spicy and has orange lava cheese,” whereas, the Pikachu burger was loaded with fries, cheese, onions and featured Doritos corn chips for ears. Sony has just announced a brand new PS4 Slim console, and it’s already out for $450. It’s the same great console we already know, just much smaller and neater. The company has also revealed the PS4 Pro, which was the console previously called the Neo. It’s built for the hardcore gamers, with twice the power so it can provide full 4K resolution graphics and HDR. That just means it will look incredible if you can afford a 4K TV to play it on.
