I think I've mentioned before that scraps have no place in my fabric stash (shame on me, I know). The truth is, I've never had the time or the patience to sift through the aftermath of a big project. But now, things have changed. Ready for the big reveal? I'm a scraps convert. I recently signed up for an online course with Rachel (of Stitched in Color) and she's completely transformed how I think about my fabric stash. With this revelation, my confidence has been buoyed and I'm squaring up to all sorts of quilty challenges that I've previously shied away from. 50wt One of the most popular quilting threads! Best for fine, detailed machine-quilting, hand and machine piecing, hand and machine appliqué, garment sewing, machine embroidery and stitching binding. It’s also ideal for lace work 12wt 12wt works beautifully for embroidery, hand appliqué with a buttonhole stitch, sashiko and big-stitch hand quilting. There’s a price for getting those perfect points – practice. I see it all the time on social media, at quilt classes or on the blogs I read. Everyone is lamenting their lack of perfect points! We all want them and sometimes we achieve them despite ourselves, but they’re not some mythical creature akin to the unicorn. You can have perfect points – you just need to put the effort in. I don’t know what it is about quilting that makes us all forget that the only way we get better is by practicing.
