USING YOUR TEMPLATES 1 Choose your required finished size, and use the same coloured line on each template when cutting your pieces. Cut long strips of fabric to size from the top of the ruler to your chosen size line. 2 Align the marked line with the bottom of your strips, and trim along both sides of the large triangle template (Fig 1). Turn your template to cut the next piece, matching up the diagonal edge with the previous cut (Fig 2). Firstly, congratulations are in order for the release of both your Blueprint Quilting book and AM loves HUE fabric collection! Does it ever get old releasing so many exciting projects? There is a dazzling array of threads available, different makes, weights and types. This issue we will explain the different types, uses and techniques when picking threads for quilting. The thread weights below are the thread weights of Aurifil, but other manufacturers will have a similar range. THREAD WEIGHT Threads are described by their weight, meaning how thick or thin they are. Confusingly the higher the number the thinner the thread. So an 80wt thread is significantly thinner than a 12wt thread. Along with choosing the right thread for the job it’s also important to make sure that the needle you choose is right for the thread. Growing up in Brazil and being the youngest of four siblings at least 10 years older than me didn’t make it possible for me to explore my creative side much. I mostly loved reading and enjoyed studying English from an early age.
