Get started with EPP quickly and easily with our template set. The shapes all have 1½in sides, so you can match them up across your design. Use the sturdy templates to trace out your own EPP pieces on card. You can also use the templates to easily fussy-cut your favourite fabrics. TECHNIQUE FOCUS: FOUNDATION PAPER PIECING EASY SHAPES Designing your own FPP blocks is a great way to add to your skill set. It can come in very handy when you would like to: ■ Make a block in a non-standard size.■ Avoid trimming tricky blocks like half-rectangle triangles.■ Change the proportions of a block.■ Sew a row of the same block in one go.■ Sewing small blocks where accuracy matters. When designing a block, you need to make sure that it can be pieced all in one go. This means that starting at the edge or centre you can add fabrics by stitching and flipping in a sequence so that the whole block is covered. Having grown up around fabric and crafts from a young age my fondest childhood memories are making and crafting with my Nanna and my Mum. I learnt to crochet first around the age of seven. My Nanna would start off the crochet granny square blanket centre for me and from there I would go round and round, using whatever yarn I could get hold of or was given, until the blanket was big enough for a lap size and then I would start all over again.
