A New Apple Silicon Processor Before the March keynote, there were three Apple Silicon M-series processors; M1, M1 Pro and the top-of-the-range M1 Max. A fourth has now been added; the M1 Ultra, the most powerful Apple Silicon chip yet. Mac Studio runs on the M1 Ultra or M1 Max, depending on which model you choose. According to Johny Srouji, Apple’s SVP, Hardware Technologies, the M1 Ultra is “the next breakthrough for Apple Silicon.” While the chip architecture was scaled up from the M1, to M1 Pro and M1 Max, the M1 Ultra takes a new approach. Receiving Email. When you receive an email in your inbox, this is how you open and read it using the macOS Mail app. Once you’ve set up your email account, you can send and receive email. As soon as you launch Mail, it connects to your email service and collect any email that is waiting for you. These messages are shown as a list in your Inbox. Using Mail Signatures. You can add a signature to your emails, that is, a short piece of text that’s at the foot of every email you send. A signature is a piece of text that you can add to the foot of your email automatically. To set one or more up, open Mail Preferences (from the Mail menu), click on Signatures in the top bar and then on the account to which you wish to add a signature in the accounts on the left. Click on the ‘+’ button under the middle column to add a signature. Setting Up Auto-Pairing The new Apple Pencil, second generation, does not need to be paired like the older version. Instead, you just place the flat side of the pencil on the iPad, and it pairs automatically. It couldn’t be any simpler. Battery Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Notification Centre. Tap the Widgets tab and you can see the Batteries section. Below the iPad will be the Apple Pencil charge. When it starts to run you get alerts, just plug it back in to charge up. The New Studio Display Alongside the new Mac Studio, Apple also lifted the lid on its latest monitor; the Studio Display. It’s an all-screen design, with very narrow surrounding bezels. It also features an all-aluminium enclosure that crams a lot of technology into its slim profile. There are two different stands on offer. The basic stand lets you tilt the display up to 30 degrees, but if you need more mobility there’s the tilt and height-adjustable version, with a counterbalancing arm that makes the screen feel weightless. There were actually several Superman games for mobile, but this one by Chillingo Ltd has got to be our favourite. The simply-named Superman saw our hero soaring across the Metropolis skyline, taking on a myriad of enemies using many of his best-known powers. Tale of the Tape The Mac Studio is a surprisingly small device considering its power. It looks a little like a Mac mini, though at 3.7 inches (9.5 cm), it’s over two and a half times as tall. One other popular file type for macOS installations is the PKG file. Although it’s not as popular as DMG files. Simply put, a PKG file are installation packages that generally contain automated scripts that will direct the installation of the app in question. They will take you through a kind of setup wizard and create a multi-step installation process. They are usually only used where multiple additional components are required by the app but also when different services are required from macOS or the installation files will be placed in different areas of the Mac’s file system. If an attachment you wish to email is too large for a regular email, it’s stored on Apple’s server and offered as a download instead.
