RECENT media reports have highlighted sewer overflow and related problems in several areas of our city.
We, the residents of Bakerville Gardens in Newlands, are no strangers either to this stinky situation.
Two community members, namely Nuven Govender and Rahual Bantho, have contacted the relevant eThekwini department, for action, without much success beside having their correspondence acknowledged.
In response to Govender’s written complaint and follow-up, a blue truck did turn up once, about two weeks ago, in an apparent attempt to dredge the mess, but left without success.
So, as I wrote this on Sunday, June 25, having just driven through the sewage overflow on my way home, the situation remained unchanged.
While I understand that ours is just part of a bigger problem, we, as loyal ratepayers, do deserve…
