A first-time time mother who was healthy when she went to a state hospital to deliver her baby, but came out of a Caesarean section minus her uterus, thus not being able to have any more children, has sued the Gauteng Health MEC for damages. The woman told the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, that she was admitted to the George Mukhari Academic Hospital in 2016 to give birth. As she started bleeding while having a Caesarean section, her uterus was removed. The mother said she entered the hospital as a healthy woman and had no idea what led to her uterus being removed. Cairo: The Egyptian government is set to ban the operation of 16 travel agencies for arranging “fraudulent” Hajj trips for unregistered pilgrims. At a Hajj deaths crisis unit meeting held at the weekend, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said he had ordered the licence of these agencies to be revoked and those involved people and entities transferred to public prosecution. Madbouly said that among more than 50 000 registered Egyptian pilgrims, a total of 31 people with “chronic diseases” were confirmed dead. Niamey: Niger’s army said yesterday that it had killed a key member of the Islamic State group during a military raid in the west of the African country. The clash took place in the Tillaberi region in the vast and unstable “three borders” zone between Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. Speaking at the launch of the African Legal Professionals Association at Blue Waters Hotel in Durban, Hlophe said the land in South Africa belongs to black people and they have every right to own it. In April 2021 the Judicial Conduct Tribunal found him guilty of gross misconduct which resulted in his impeachment in February this year. I strongly oppose the idea of bringing back the Natal Indian Congress (NIC). Indians are not and never have been a homogenous group. We have been let down by all those amnesiacs and deniers of truth, who failed to read the writing on the wall a long time ago. ECONOMISTS are predicting a big drop in petrol and diesel prices next month, saying it will bring much-needed relief to under-pressure consumers. London: Flights at the UK’s third-busiest airport were being delayed or cancelled yesterday after a major power cut, the airport operator said. Power has now been restored at the international airport in north England, but passengers due to travel from terminals 1 and 2 were told to “not come to the airport” as all flights were cancelled “until further notice”. Passengers for terminal 3 were told to come to the airport as normal, but were warned they “could be affected by delays”.
