Capitec Bank Holdings’ directors said they expect headline earnings per share (HEPS) to increase between 22% and 27% in the six months to August 31, which represents another strong performance compared with its competitor banks. The bank that pioneered paperless banking in South Africa from 2001 said in a trading statement on Wednesday that HEPS would likely be between 6 764 cents and 7 041 cents per share, compared to the 5 544 cents per share for the comparative six months ended August 31, 2024. A call has been made for the eThekwini Municipality to extend its special debt relief programme as it has given a major boost to Durban's property sector. This is the view of professional bodies, including the Black Lawyers Association and the KwaZulu-Natal Legal Practitioners Association. The organisations have written to Mayor Cyril Xaba, urging the extension of the programme, stating that it has addressed serious challenges that had been stifling the property sector. Siphephelo Luthuli applied for two posts in the Eastern Cape as court manager. He was recommended, as he was deemed the best candidate. Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientso Ramokgopa has announced positive developments regarding South Africa's power supply, revealing that the national electricity grid has reached a commendable state of stability in recent weeks. Sibiya turned to the Bloemfontein High Court for a final interdict after he had obtained the interim interdict against her in November last year. Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has disclosed that 57 infrastructure projects experienced delays with total overruns to the tune of R444.7 million over the last three years. Macpherson detailed the breakdown of the overruns, which included R110.8m in 2022/23, R64.3m in 2023/24 and R269.6m in 2024/25.
