Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, Sharon von Arx was never allowed to keep a pet. But she longed to make animals a part of her life. “I could hardly wait to find the right man who loved animals as much as I did,” she says. Since moving to Naples in 1992, Sharon and her husband, Dolph, have devoted their philanthropic efforts to environmental conservation and animal protection. For the past three years, they have paid for the Humane Society Naples to maintain an adoption center in the Coastland Mall.
