The despicable crimes of Frenchman Sobhraj, 77, who murdered multiple young travellers across Asia in the ’70s, are back making news across the globe, thanks to the new Netflix drama The Serpent.
“I clearly remember this man’s magnetic charisma, and the hold he had on me the night I met him,” Geraldine, 76, tells New Idea from Phnom Penh, where she runs an orphanage and school.
For Geraldine, watching the TV series, showing how Sobhraj regularly seduced, drugged and killed his victims, was a chilling reminder of her night with The Serpent more than four decades ago.
