Eighteen months ago, Jane Peddie was in a very different place to the happier one she is in today. In June 2023, she decided to become sober. Jane had been a drinker for many years in what, she says, “became a life-or-death situation”. Martha Stewart has revealed she was forced into solitary confinement during her infamous stint behind bars. Martha served five months at Federal Prison Camp, Alderson in 2004 on a fraud conviction. She reflects on the “terrible” experience in her new Netflix documentary. The 83-year-old recalls “being dragged into solitary for touching an officer” after she accidentally “brushed” past a woman – not realising she was a security guard. Crispy Pork Belly with Honey Hoisin Sauce SERVES 4 PREP & COOK 1 HOUR 15 MINS ■ 1kg piece boneless pork belly (see Tip) SAUCE ■ 3cm piece fresh ginger, peeled, sliced, cut into thin strips ■ 1 long red chilli, halved, deseeded, cut into thin strips ■ ⅓ cup hoisin sauce ■ 1 tblsp soy sauce ■ 1 tblsp honey 1 Place pork, rind-side up, on an oven tray lined with baking paper.
