Turtle tours will be the hottest tickets in Queensland this summer, after a record breeding season at Mon Repos Beach.
More than 500 loggerhead turtles made their way ashore at the end of last year, laying an unprecedented 265,000 eggs. Mon Repos Conservation Park’s head ranger, Cathy Gately, says it was an exciting time for staff at the rookery, which is home to the largest concentration of nesting turtles in the South Pacific.
