The Friday was a VIP day, although any person may purchase a ticket to attend. The higher priced ticket, and it being a regular working day for most, ensured that there was a bit more open walking space, with less crowds to navigate through and around. Getting to speak with the exhibitors was also a bit easier and quicker, since there were fewer expo visitors and the exhibitors were not yet fatigued from the gruelling days of the expo, not to mention the setup time, too. The initiative was born on the back of a successful IPRF World Championship in August last year. In preparation for South Africa hosting the International Precision Rifle Federation (IPRF) 2024 Precision Rifle World Championship, the need was identified to expose NAPRA members to international competition. In line with members’ development and exposure, other federations and associations might not be familiar with our class structure. We have a development programme to include up-and-coming shooters to allow them to evolve based on progressions in target sizes, time allowed and round count. The progression includes Casual Class, then Evolution Class and finally IPRF with all the classes competing separately but shooting shoulder to shoulder within the squads to promote skills transfer. SA Open Championship, 21 to 25 March 2023 In March, Bisley F-Class shooters from all around the world gathered in Bloemfontein at the Genl De Wet Shooting Range. The South African Bisley Union (SABU) Open Championship was a preamble to the F-Class World Championship (FCWC). Most competitors shot the SA Open Championship to become acquainted with the range conditions and method of running the matches under the iron fist of Gen. (Ret) Mac Alexander. All matches were shot at 700 m, 800 m and 900 m, also the format for the FCWC as well. The South Africans dominated the top ranks of every match from the first shot.
