I remember pitching up at Overtone park way back in September 2001 for the very first Edition 38. Up until that point, the main water-cooled VW UK show had been GTI International, but that event had become a little bit long in the tooth over the years and was beginning the become more of a commercial show and less enthusiast lead. Where to begin this story? Let me take you back to 2018 when we finished up our 10th edition of VAG Nation. Davy, Tom, Andy and myself decided to quit on a high. We never started our journey with the intention of running a show for that long, but I think we can all agree we had a good run. IN ASSOCIATION WITH Last month the Rocket Bunny kit arrived for Tom at Meguiar’s Mk2 Golf project, a build he’s planning to have ready in time for Ultimate Dubs next March. Naturally, once laidoutonthefloor foracheekyphoto, Tom wasted no time in dragging said kit to the body shop where the Reflex boys could offer it up to the car in order to work out how much of the original arches could be cut away. Obviously, the main reason for fitting such a radical kit is to make the car stand out, but also to allow for the fitment of some seriously wide wheels underneath. So when we revealed last month that the HP Tuners Europe team is gunning for an output of 500+bhp from its Golf R, the responsible thing (in addition to all the other responsible things they've already done) was to put the brakes on this project – literally.
